When I began 35 years ago, nobody gave recognition to family-run businesses. They were the poor relation compared to sexy, fast-growth corporate firms. But now the tides have changed and family-run companies are finally being seen as the backbone of the UK economy. After all, family businesses are the oldest and the largest business sector in the world outside of corporate giant.
I give talks on the rising next generation, succession, exit options, cultural nuance and multi-faith perspective family office, the family business 'sector' as a global powerhouse, governance, the role of women in family firms and much more.

From starting my own award-winning Design Agency 'Still Waters Run Deep' in London in 1989, to losing everything after 23 years during the 2008 crash.
I then founded 'Family Business Place' - the first ever national membership body exclusively for family-run businesses in the UK with events at Wembley Stadium.

After 15 extraordinary years, we became a victim of Covid and I talk about the pain of having to let go of our brilliant team, including family members.
​
I am now the Co-Founder of a luxury jewellery brand 'Irene & Jenny' - creating bespoke heirloom jewellery from old, family gemstones. It is a privilege to be running this with my daughter, Amalia, and I still have as much passion and energy as I did all those years ago.
